Well I was told that they can't diagnose a child with autism until the age of 4, but I know someone's son who was diagnosed with it at 2 but shows no signs of it now. Hope you get answers. ❤

My daughter was diagnosed with autism at 18 months when I recognised the warning signs early.

@mommy.ortiz4 I thought it was because he clingy but it isnt. He banged his head on the bed and shake his head like crazy and it's not for comfort. He is very odd and it's hard to explain further without sounding crazy

@deafmama16 she used to turn the lights on and off all the time, liked to line her books up in a straight line, had sensory issues like needed extra hands on stimulating activities, didn't like to make eye contact, things like that. So I mentioned it to her doctor and she gave me this quiz to answer about my child. Once I answered everything we went over it and turns out she had symptoms so we were referred to a specialist and she was diagnosed before she turned two.

Lately he has been more temperamental even for no reason or so we think. He doesn't respond to his name being called anymore although he can hear. He not really active with other kids so I thought he may be anti social. He doing things his age but again he isn't so I we thought maybe he a late bloomer but idk I don't want to sound crazy but you can look at him and tell something just isn't right but you don't know what heck even his doc said he an very odd baby

My sons doctor says he has alot of symptoms of autism but wont diagnose him till he's 3, it's frustrating cause its like you as his doctor see he had symptoms then why not refer him some where so he can get the right kind of treatment..

@ilovemychildren I can't get my son interested in anything if it's not food. He love lights even changing bright light it some how stimulate him to sleep but now I have to play my genie gem game app on my phone with sound to get him to sleep. He tugs on my ear which is very strange because he never did that before. He rubs his head on my face and crawl in a weird way like Tarzan. Theirs many odd things he does and idk if I can wait until he 4 to get diagnosed.

A lot of doctors won't diagnose until 3 because kids are strange and they can do one thing and they grow out of it. They also don't want to misdiagnose, because once a child is diagnosed as something it tends to stick with them for life. I'm a special education teacher and kids are misdiagnosed all the time, but they get branded as one thing and that's all people see. If that makes sense.... if this makes you feel better, my son does some of the same stuff and I believe it's him just figuring out the world. My son does the Tarzan walk when he doesn't like the texture of something or just because. He also rubs his face on me when he's tired. Kids are weird, id give it a few more years 😁

Not all doctors are trained to recognize and diagnose autism spectrum disorders. This is one of the most over and inaccurate diagnosis given.
