Probably the two things that have been most helpful in my marriage are to know and communicate (regularly) what your/your partners love language is. And to really let that guide how you care for each other. And second, to know each others "trigger words" what words/phrases/actions make you or your partner just bristle and lose it. We all have them! Being really aware and loving, and talking together about other (more productive) words or phrases can really help you to have more understanding as well as more productive "fights" (sounds weird, but a lot of good can come out of a hard disagreement when you are both trying to really authentically and lovingly communicate). That isn't easy in the moment, so identifying better ways to communicate OUTSIDE of the moment has been paramount to us really hearing each other. #momlifechats
