Hi all! I'm Krysta. I have two boys (2.5 and 7 months). I work full time, take online classes for my Bachelors and in my free time (what is that?!) I help educate caregivers about car seat safety! I love being a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have!
@ashleydunn, it's a pretty easy install with seat belt! Smaller belt path but it's not an issue in most cases.
I work in a pediatric clinic and really wish pediatricians at least followed AAP guidelines!
@krystamariebee, my pediatrician gave me a paper saying that at 1 and 20 pounds to forward face 🤦🏼♀️ I wish they were educated on car seat safety the thing is they even had a "safe car" poster on the door saying rear face until at least 2 🙄.
How's the Graco transitions when seatbelt installing ?
Right now my 5 year old is in the even flo chase booster mode because she outgrew weight limit but I plan on getting her back to harness when I can afford to get the Graco wayz/transitions.
@mama2kyns, that would be an awesome tool to have! I've heard of so many nurses who didn't know what they were doing and gave out unsafe advice. Having your certification with that job would be a huge bonus!
@eashleystrain, I moved from Vancouver, WA! Last winters snow was bad, but I heard it isn't normally like that
@krystamariebee that's cool! I had slightly thought about doing it maybe in the future. I'm going into nursing...to be a labor and delivery nurse and I thought it might be a good tool to have!
@mama2kyns, it's a 3-5 day hands on class with quizzes, tests and a community seat check event at the end! It's $85 plus local fees (if there are any). Your certification is good for 2 years and in that time you have to check a certain amount of seats with an instructor that checks it plus continuing education
It depends on a bunch of different factors! The child's age, height, weight, your vehicle, any other passengers, your budget, RF or FF
