I wish my ex wasn't so selfish and would of thought about our 10 month old with this custody arrangement.This poor baby has to be in a car for 3 hours to his house and 3 hours back every other weekend not to mention past his bedtime and that's a lot for a baby and it's not fair to my son just because his father has parental rights. I wish the courts would actually look at the wellbeing of a baby and how that's a lot on them not to mention being away from there mothers. Thanks NY state you suck! 😠

All parents have parental rights unless they are a drug addict, alcoholic, physically abusive toward child, sex offender and even then they still get rights. Have supervised visitations. My ex isn't any of those cause I wanted soul cause he's emotionally and mentally abusive to me and he's completely detached from my son but And they made sure my ex had his rights. 🙄 @logansjay,

@missjess, ok so he doesn't have full custody? I'm afraid that he's trying to file for full custody behind my back. I overheard him talking to his friends one day

My ex did it behind my back after he was forced to pay child support. He wanted 50/50 custody but I have full physical custody and he has joint @logansjay, I highly doubt he could get full custody of your child! If anything he'll just get joint.

Oh ok. I know it might be a stupid question but are 50/50 custody and joint custody the same?

No. 50/50 is they have them 1 full week and you have them the following full week. Joint is typically every other weekend and every other holiday with maybe a couple extra days thrown in. My ex has visitations every other Thursday for 2 1/2 hours and he gets an extra weekend every other month and our holidays are a little different until my son is 3 due to distance. Plus he gets one full week every July starting next year and when my son is older he will get him for either his spring break or xmas break @logansjay,

Yes! Get everything together. Most of the stuff I had on my ex didn't matter in court. All they care about is both parents if fit being in the child's life.@logansjay,

They don't, honestly. It's unfortunate but it doesn't matter in the eyes of the court. They want you to put all your personal shit aside and focus on the child. Which I try to do with my ex but he's so spiteful and emotionally abusive toward me and uses our son to have that power 🙄@logansjay, but court doesn't care! You think they would.

Wow I just read the comments. I’m going through the same, my court date is coming up now I’m terrified. What happens if you file for sole custody and want to do supervised visitation?

@anonymousmom, they won't do sole custody unless the baby's father is a sexual predator, abusive toward the child, a drug/alcohol addict or a jail bird.
