Yes if u have a student email.. u can get student prime.. its 49 but still get the same benefits

I think it's $100 a year for the general public. It's cost effectiveness depends on how often you'll use it. I'm terrible and we order things weekly, and have several items on the subscribe and save. It has saved us a lot on diapers and formula, but sometimes Target has better promotions, like when they have the gift card with baby purchase thing.
