Depends on what you're making for food, I recomend like sandwiches and fruit, stuff that's cheap and can be thrown out. We had a barbecue and so much food left over cause I had 45 people coming and 15 maybe more didn't show up.
I ordered a cake for $100 and had to give away slices to take home cause it was too big.
Like 1 day before the shower ask everyone if they are still coming, you will have the highest chance of knowing who really is and isn't coming. ****People that didn't come didn't respond to the message***
Make sure you have plenty of help cause there will be A LOT to do if you're decorating.
don't do the shower earlier then 2-3pm cause preparation takes a lot of time and people usually show up either on time, 1hr later or 3 hours later.
I didn't open gifts at my shower, only the ones that were requested cause people get bored
Make sure everyone is involved in the shower cause people will just sit there and do nothing sometimes and won't even talk to you, just eat🐷
And have help cleaning up cause it's gonna be a painful day for you especially if you're doing your shower late. I did mine at 25 weeks and couldn't walk half way through my shower.

That's why you don't plan your own shower. Someone else is supposed to do it for you lol
