my boy is nearly 3 month he's just drank 11 oz and wants more, I'm not one for early weaning usually but seriously debating it😩, even a little bit of rusk, my 2 year old needs me more than I'm giving her !! he just cries and cries til he gets some! what do we think:(

I wouldn't wean. Sounds normal. Growth spurts are common at that age and they can eat incredible amounts when they're going through one.
Their milk is full of nutrition, so if he wants more he probably needs it for growing not hunger. At this moment, he's far too young to wean.
I'm solid on weaning at 6 months myself, but if you do it earlier, no earlier than 4 months and speak to a nutritionist to make sure baby gets all the right things. Xx

My lad was exactly the same all my boys were I had Jacob on porridge at 9 weeks n bits off rusk now he's 7 months he's on all proper food he was a hungry baby x

I started weaning mine around 4months, but give them either the baby porridge or rice. Don't do rusk early on as it's sweeter and they prefer it to anything else you try later on, I made that mistake haha.

@laurenmillar94 you just got to do what works for you! I breast fed my son that was why I weaned him earlier as I couldn't cope, I kept breast feeding till he was 1 but it was more for comfort as he was on solid food then too.

I went through this with Max. I didn't wean Morgan until 6months but I knew from early on Max would be earlier. I held it off until he was 4months as I personally feel any younger is too soon for their stomachs. I know people say 'I was weaned, my sister and sisters step sister was weaned early & their fine' and it's true many have been. But also many adults go on to suffer with bowl & stomach issues due to early weaning. So all I'd advise on the matter is to really read up on weaning & be as well informed as you can. Then start with little & occasionally & see how he goes. I'd give Max a mouthful here & there of yogurt and porridge to help tide him over but didn't offer proper meals until he was 4 1/2months when he was sitting better & I felt he was more ready for it.

na I'm aware of the risks hun I wouldn't go as far as proper meals or anything til he's atleast 6/7 month I just mean maybe a little tiny bit mixed with his milk but enough to fill him for atleast a few hours xx

Well by meals I mean I didn't offer a small portion on a regular basis. Like a small bowl for breakfast. I literally offered a mouthful here & there. My issue with Max was kind of the opposite. He was a very hungry newborn, wanted to be fed hourly. 2hr was the longest he would go. Then one day he started not taking his milk at all. Went on for a while. He'd barely drink or refuse altogether. So I would worried he'd start loosing weight. He did and dropped a centile line is it called? That's when I decided to try him with food. Like every parenting decision you just have to get all the info you can then make a decision with that & their best interests in mind. It's always trial & error!

We weaned at 4.5 months but it was one meal of porridge a day and purely because his reflux was so bad and he wasn't keeping milk down. And generally though keep in mind he may be hungry but is he physically ready to eat food. You can't inspect his gut, but is he sitting up with support? If you put food in his mouth has he lost his thrust reflex to just push it back out again? Is he watching and following the spoon and opening his mouth for it? Those kinds of things are for baby's safety, making sure he doesn't choke and if he physically isn't ready to eat, considering all the research, I'd take that his gut isn't ready either. My little man was sitting unaided by 4 months and doing all the rest. But honestly if it wasn't for reflux I'd have waited till 6 months. Generally he is an incredibly hungry child. He's now 10 months and where other kids have 3 meals and milk. Mine has milk, 3 meals, 3 snacks, and comes and seeks food from you when you're eating too! Lol he's crazy active though so I let him.
