I'm getting my membrane sweep this Friday I'm not sure what to expect I read that other mommies have gone into labor not…

If your aren't dilated at all, then I'd wait! Because it can (not always) be pretty painful! & 50% it doesn't work. But if your atleast a 2, you could give it a try!

@korahleah_11, last Friday I was 1cm dilated I'm not sure if I'm 2 or not I'm just a little nervous does it hurt?

You've probably progressed some since, I would hope! & I had it done with my first. & just my experience. It hurt like a bitch & I cried. But from my new OB I wasn't dilated enough he said to do it so. I was only half a CM! He said that's why it hurt so bad.

What they do is they take their two fingers and they literally scrap the inside of your cervix.

I got it done when I was 1cm and nothing😩 still the day I was getting induced they did it and nope😂

The sooner the better but i heard it hurt a bit

I got that done with first child hurt like hell and then went into labor like 3 hours after but was in labor over 26 hours .. Almost had emergency c section

I had it done on a Tuesday and I lost my mucus plug that Thursday and my water broke on Friday. I was having contractions on and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I ended up having my daughter on Saturday.

@thegermanmommy, oh wow!!! So if my water breaks I still can't go to the hospital until I have contractions?

When I got the membrane scrape it did feel super weird/slightly painful but then my baby came the next day! 😊 and at that point I was only 1/2cm

If your water breaks go right away to the hospital! 🙈

@_texas_mom_, omg yay!!! So even if I don't have contractions and my water breaks I still need to go? I just don't want them to send me home lol

@nessairieray, totally understand. If your water breaks, contractions or not, GO. (They say to do this because rarely the umbilical cord could actually fall out, its rare but it can happen)... If you start having contractions you need to time them. I would look up online or ask your doc how long apart they should be before going. If they're too far apart they will send you home and tell you to come back later. And make sure that they're real contractions and not Braxton Hicks aka fake contractions. So they have to be at the same time and for the same amount of time. For example if you get one for a min and then after 2 minutes one comes again then after 5 minutes another comes then another at 3. They're probably fake. Now if it's a constant every 5 minutes then they're probably real. 👍🏻 Lol I'm sure you knew some of that but just in case.

@_texas_mom_, aw thank you so much for that I actually didn't even know about the contractions I was always confused about timing them lol I'm excited and nervous I hope he comes when they do it

If your water breaks go to the hospital. I had to leave work early on Friday because my water broke. I was in labor for 26hrs
