Have any of you flown with a 2 year old? ✈️ So, my daughter turns two soon, and then shortly after we need to fly to Illinois from California. I'm looking into (finally) buying the tickets, and I'm seeing that's 2+ is considered an adult. Do I really have to pay? $300+ for my 40lb child?
EDIT TO ADD: what paper work did you need to book your child's flight? The birth certificate?

If she can sit on your lap you dont need a ticket. Buuut if you want your own space youre stuck buying a ticket

@kambam, when I called they said that they can only sit on your lap if they are under two years old. Ugh! That was southwest though - I'll look into other flights. Thank you!

Oh lame 😩yeah maybe some will accept by weight. Good luck.

When I flew with my son he was lapped but they never asked for a birth certificate or anything. I know they say putting your child in a separate seat in a car seat is safer but it can be a little extra

@lp1988727, That's a good idea! (Hopefully the fact that she looks like a four-year-old doesn't make a difference😂). When you book the flight, you just booked it for yourself and not her then correct?

Yes, you need birth certificate to get through TSA. And only under 2 can sit in your lap.

Following about the age part. My daughter and I fly all the time with Southwest and only a handful of times on American and United. But, everytime I was ask to show her birth certificate.

I went ahead and just booked her an actual seat. No discounted price, ugh! Haha. $1100 later. 🙈🙄 I will be bringing her birth certificate to be safe. I have another question though (I'm SO sorry if I'm annoying you all! 💕)... I've seen family's use a stroller all the way through TSA and then up to literally boarding and then I'm assuming they check the stroller? Do you let them know at check-in that you'll be checking the stroller, or what? Sorry, again if I'm getting annoying! 🤗@littlewillowsmommy, @lp1988727, @starryheavens727, @northwoodsmomma,

Lol yes! When you get your ticket they will ask if you want to keep your daughter's stroller with you at the gate and once you get to the gate you will check it in there.
Emily ·
@jennatess, yes! You just check your stroller at the gate 😃 they will keep it at the front of the plane for you.

When you get to your gate get tags for your stroller from the boarding agent. Ask that they provide the stroller at the gate for you. So right when you get off your stroller will be waiting, you can even do this for layovers if you have any :)
