My Baby's Doctor Told Me To Give Her Pedialyte, But Never Told Me How Much To Give Her... She's 9 Days Old. Do I Continue Giving Her 2 Oz Or A Smaller Dose? It's Suppose To Help Her Between Meals, Bc We're Trying To Put Her On A Schedule To Eat Every 3 Hours.

@ashleydunn, She's Eating About An Oz Every Hour (Snacking), Which Is Why We're Putting Her On A Schedule. She's Not Dehydrated Either.. She Is Very Tiny (5 Lbs 14 Oz)... I Thought That Was A Little Early As Well, But Didn't Wanna Argue, Just Thought I'd Ask Other Moms

Seriously? That sounds like bad advice. You shouldn't be giving anything to keep her full between meals. I would get a second opinion.

@destineemh, really if she isn't losing weight or dehydrated then I would get a second opinion. Are you brreastfeeding? I felt like my baby was always on my breast. I never had her on a timed schedule. Just fed her when she wanted

@ashleydunn, I'm Trying To Breastfeed, But I Feel As If It's Never Enough, So I Give Her Formula Sometimes. I Told Her I Was Feeding On Demand &' She Told Me A Schedule Was Better

Feed the baby on demand. Forget a schedule. If she's looking for the boob give it to her. You have more than enough milk. My daughter was 5lbs 7oz when she was born and I never needed anything but my boobs for her. Her wanting to nurse often is completely normal mama.. especially right now..

A pediatrician is not a LC if you are concerned about how much you are making you need a lactaction consultant not a pediatrician.

Anytime you give formula you need to pump.

Supply and demand. Just keep putting baby on breast. Don't need a schedule, especially this young

Neither of my kids were put on a schedule but they had no problems adjusting when I did but I never put their eating on a schedule I mean you wouldn't like to be told when you can or can't eat 🤷🏼‍♀️

Although you shouldn't pump until at least 6 weeks ;)

Don't let them force formula on you especially if baby is gaining weight. Them pushing formula on me is why I failed the first time at breastfeeding. I would suggest seeing a LC :)

@jae, Okay, Thank You! I Just Wanted To Be Sure Before I Started Giving Her Some. I Knew That Sounded A Little Fishy

@ashleydunn, She Told Me To Pump At Least 8 Times A Day As Well Lmao.. But You're Right. I'll Just Keep Feeding On Demand. My Baby Is Already Back Up To Her Birth Weight, So I Must Be Doing Something Right. Thank You!

@destineemh, what she crazy. That will cause an over supply since you won't regulate until like 4-6 weeks.

You're welcome mama. Like Ash said a pediatrician is not an LC and most times will give you terrible advice. Don't pump, don't supplement, just put baby to breast. That's all you need to build and maintain your supply. "Snacking" is fine because her stomach is still tiny and babies nurse for a ton of different reasons. Also, our milk is easier for baby to digest so she may nurse more often anyway.
