My grandmother tried to tell me I'm depriving Isabelle of attention and love because I ignore her when she's upset. 😂 If we're playing together and she starts throwing a fit for whatever reason (usually it's over my phone), then I'll get up and sit somewhere away from her or put her down, and I ignore her until she stops crying. I don't talk to her, I don't look at her. And guess what? It works most of the time. After a few minutes she's back to normal and ready to play again. If she doesn't stop crying, then it usually means it's naptime/bedtime. She can't talk things out or listen to reason yet. She's ONE. She can't have her way all the time, and I'm not gonna let her have her way OR deal with trying to talk to her when she doesn't understand, especially because she's in a phase where she wants to hit and pull hair when she's upset.

Im a good mom. My kid has plenty of love and attention. I just don't deal with her shit. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ let her have her way or coddle her while she's throwing a fit now, even at this age, and she'll do it in the future.

I do the same exact thing and my mom doesn't always agree with me , but the kids cannot be spoiled and answering to their demands is one way they will be spoiled in the future so I agree with you and I do the same thing ! And I'm glad I do !

OMG, my daughter is the same way. She will throw temper tantrum's, fall out all over the ground, and when you make her mad she tries to bite, pinch or hit you and hits herself in the head even sometimes

@mrsmord Yes! Around 8-9 months they start to understand cause and effect. Anytime she'd get upset I'd give her what she wanted, pick her up, let her hit me, basically anything to keep her from crying. So she kept doing it. Over toys, my phone, naptime, EVERYTHING. I eventually stopped and started just ignoring it and she stopped, too. Sometimes I'll compromise. Like she's ALWAYS wanting the remotes, so we took the batteries out of the one we don't use and let her have it to play with. She's always wanting our phones, so we got her a tablet to play with and watch movies in the car. If she wants up on the couch, we'll pick her up, but put her down if she starts trying to grab things she can't have.

I let her cry, throw things, whatever. She doesn't have the social skills to talk things out or express her frustration any other way. But she knows I won't show her any attention until she stops.

@brianna_ Yep! Isabelle's bad about throwing things in her vicinity. I just let her do her thing. I move myself away from her so she doesn't hit me or slap me, and I don't even look at her. Once she calms down she comes back to me and wants to play again, and I play with her. It went from 20+ minutes of her crying and screaming while i tried to negotiate with an infant and eventually giving in, to a few minutes of letting her blow off steam and then she's good to go.

@scurlock.mommy, yeah that's what I've done and it's working for me. Ari knows to just cut it out because mommy isn't having it lol
