My son has ADHD and is on medication. He's a completely different person while on it. He couldn't take it today because he was out and has to see a Dr for a refill. So he'll be off of it till Fri. Have to admit I lived spending time with him and having his old goofy self back. He's so withdrawn while on it. But off of it he's out of control hyper and defient so today was a tough day and I lost it by 8pm. I try so hard to be patient and work with him. I feel bad when I loose it with him. I really hope tomorrow is a better day for both of us

Coming from a person who is ADHD (me) and been on med most of my life for it. It's the med that's making him that way. The longer he going to be on it you won't be able to have your normal goofy son anymore because the med make him withdraw from the world. Adderall and Ritalin is bad and will mess a person up in the long run. Yes him being off of it will make him hyper and all but it who he is and it takes patience. I'm not telling you what to do but just sharing my experience. You got this mama. @nicolem10021

@deafmama16 I'm ADHD also and will never use ridilin. I was on that as a child. The medication he's on has helped him focus in school tremendously. He had to repeat first grade because off medication he was so defensive got in a lot of trouble suspended failing grades couldn't read were he was supposed to be which come to find out was because of his distraction and when he focuses he does just fine. He always hot in school suspension. He's not withdrawn all the time just had his days. The media he's on he has improved so much I just wish he was still my goofy son. So I'm at a cross roads when it's to his meds and school

@nicolem10021 that's good to hear it's helping him just give it time to adjust. The way it sounds you may get his goofy self again but just calm. You know how it is I can understand that it's frustrating for your child to go through it. Just hang in there and I'm sure everything will fall through
