Renting Nightmare: Boyfriend's Dad Accuses Us of Unpaid Rent!
Finally decided on an apartment. Gonna go up and take a tour/apply on Saturday! Today was the last straw. We rent from my boyfriend's dad and he's been AWFUL. He texted David saying we owe him almost $3k in "rent" when we've literally NEVER missed a payment. I just went through TWO YEARS of bank statements to prove it. The only thing we owe is this month, because we don't pay until next week. We've NEVER had a set rent date, never had a lease, and it's never been an issue but now he wants to throw it on our faces.
I just can't see how he can talk like that to his own SON, and he got offended when David said that this has been the worst renting experience he's ever had and it's sad that it was with his own father.
He says we don't pay our bills, BUT we're 2 months ahead of all of our bills except for rent bc this is what happens. Pendeja.

And that $1000 from the messages? When they told us they wanted to sell the house, his dad said he wanted $1k for a "security deposit" and he'd give it back when we moved. We said no because we knew we'd never see it again bc he just wants to milk us for every penny he can get.

Damn. We also rent from my In-laws, and while we've had zero problems, I still can't wait to get out because I'm so scared of things like this happening. 😩 I don't like dealing in money in any way with family, no matter the status of your relationship. I feel like it's just trouble waiting to happen.
I hope the new apartment works out!

My mum used all the money my husband gave her that was meant for our share of rent, internet, and our storage shed to get drugs. Moving out of her house and dropping all contact from her was the most freeing feeling. I hope you can get your own place soon and never have to deal with your POS FIL again.

@rebeccathomas06 @typicalwifegirl I'm honestly disgusted by the whole thing. I don't even want him at Isabelle's party on Saturday. We also found out that two years ago, 3 mos after we moved in, he put the house up for sale without telling us. Nobody made an offer so he took it off the market, but like...what if someone had? It's horrible. He cares about money over everything.
