@infamousmama_, it was way more comfy than on my back flat or my sides. On my sides my thighs would throb or my pelvis. I couldn't breathe flat on my back so I used like 8 pillows everywhere. Lol it was much more comfy and less heartburn.

@morganmommy79, omg, I try so hard to sleep on my left side. But then he balls up there and it's super uncomfortable and I get paranoid thinking I'll slightly roll and squish him lol. And you sleep elevated? Is it comfortable?

@infamousmama_, yes, I am a left side sleeper but I always end up on my back. (With pillows) And my baby is perfect. 🙂 i think a lot of things could be a "concern" if we let it. And I often wonder how male dr's can assume what a Mom feels. lol

@morganmommy79, you're right.. I do. We all do. Which is why there's been mothers that have lost their lives due to preeclampsia that wasn't detected because of doctors blowing off patients saying the symptoms they were feeling were "normal". We have to listen to our body's. My mom has 3 children as well.. and I'm the oldest (20), and she's also a nurse. She said she slept on her back a lot and we're all fine. ❤️ but it's good that you don't, just to be sure. Others find it hard to get comfortable any other way. Just do whatever feels natural.

@infamousmama_, it's usually mid pregnancy when they tell you that. When you're uterus is bigger. But I've propped myself up on pillows per drs instructions because I'm not taking chances. Besides, it's usually not until later on that your body says "roll over" due to discomfort of a big belly anyway. (When you're bigger, as I mentioned earlier)

I have 3 kids, two are older, and everything has changed since then. It'll continue to change in the years to come I'm sure. So yes, listen to your body. You know it better than anyone, including your dr.

@morganmommy79, that's not something that happens right away. your body will let you know when it's time to move. as doc says, "do whatever's comfortable". years ago women slept on their backs all the time, through their whole pregnancy until their natural instinct was to move. everyone's doctor gives different advice.. But science and history tell you all you need to know. @paolaa95, if she didn't mention it to you, she doesn't feel like it's that serious. If being on your back is comfortable.. Then sleep on your back. Your body and baby will let you know when it's time to stop.

@lucyj agreed. I was worried too but my doctor said its more of a paranoid thing and that our bodies will tell us.

When you lie on your back you can slow down the flow of blood back to your heart. As the baby gets bigger it gets worse. This can make you dizzy and sometimes slow the flow of oxygen and nutrients to baby. My dr told me if I need to lay on my back to at least prop myself up with several pillows.

^^ agreed. your body and baby will definitely let you know. my doctor told me whatever's comfortable is fine. I slept on my back and started getting an "out of breath" feeling and that's when I knew to move for a while. she told me the key is moving side to side throughout the night. helps blood flow.

My doctor told me it's safe to sleep however you would like. Just listen to your body. I've been sleeping on my back A lot more recently because I get restless leg syndrome when laying on my side. Really annoying!!
