This is long so bear with me! Four years ago, I made a decision that would change my life forever. It was a decision that should’ve been made a lot sooner honestly. I had spent 15 years pretending that it would all be ok in the end. I had convinced myself that life was supposed to be that way and staying in that situation was best for the kids… I was in denial for a very long time.
When I made the decision to move on, it was absolutely for the best; for both me and the kids. I could finally see just how wrong I had been for not doing it a lot sooner. The year that followed this decision however, would prove to be an incredible test of my willpower and strength.
By the end of the year, the stress that I had been facing all year had literally destroyed my body. I ended up having to have an emergency spinal fusion to fix the damage the stress had caused so that I could walk again. I am not joking or exaggerating. The clinical diagnosis for the cause of my spinal deterioration was STRESS! Did you know that stress can even cause a person to go blind?
After my surgery, I was told that I would possibly never run again. Running was something I had enjoyed for a long time prior to this. It was my outlet. It was the one thing I had that let me leave behind my worries and focus on nothing but the air hitting my face and the pull in my calves. Needless to say, this news was devastating and for a while after, I really let it bother me and I convinced myself that I wasn’t able to do much of anything anymore.
Fast-forward a bit – I eventually married again and this time, it was a man who was completely supportive of my needs, desires, and dreams. He is the one who got me through the surgery and the horrible recovery period afterwards. He reminded me that I could be who I wanted to be, all I had to do was put my mind to it. I stopped feeling sorry for myself and I started pulling it together. I started focusing more on my health and fitness and eventually found myself running again. Granted, I cannot sprint or distance run like I used too, but I can jog again and that is good enough for me.
This journey through hell, hitting rock bottom, feeling like I had nothing else to give, finding myself again, and pulling myself back up to show I am not defeated, has led me to where I am today. DETERMINED!! This is the reason why I do what I do now. This is the reason why I chose to be a Health and Fitness coach. This is the reason why I am working to get my Life Coaching Certification now.
I know that if I could go through all of what has been thrown at me and still make it out and be better than ever, then I can help others do the same. I AM MY OWN INSPIRATION!! 💡
If you want to find your way also, be it better health, better fitness, or even just help finding yourself. I would be happy to help! I’m not going anywhere. This is not a phase for me. This is my life. I enjoy helping others and I want to inspire those who need inspiration. #iammyowninspiration
