Can you eat lunch meat while pregnant I want a really tasty meat cheese and miracle whip sandwich 😩 a few told me if I do I'd have to heat the meat up is this true?
@ilovemychildren right that's why there are 1,600 documented cases every year with over 200 resulting in death. But it is extinct in modern times. I don't care what anyone eats or drinks honestly loll
@sawyersmom I have had three children this is my fourth. I ate a CRAP TON of non warmed sandwiches with all of them. wana know why? Because of food regulations in the US the chances of you getting Listeria from unexpired lunchmeat is SO LOW its not even a concern in modern times.. Do your research
@juliaschade41 just because your baby is fine doesn't mean someone else's will be. Listeria and salmonella are nothing to mess with when you are pregnant. It isn't good advice just because your baby is okay. While I agree that her baby will probably be okay after one sandwich. She should at least know the risks she is taking and make an educated decision from there.
I always make sure I get my lunch meat from a specific deli, I know how they handle their meats and cheeses... and on the rare occasion I get some lunch meat, I will eat it cold the first day or 2, but if it's still in my fridge on day 3 or 4 I will make it into a grilled hot sandwich to be safe!
Doc says to heat lunch meat until steaming, 165°. I have had a ham sandwich once or twice. But some women dont even risk it. Can be extremely dangerous if you get listeria, toxoplasmosis, or salmonella. Pregnant women are more susceptible to it, thats why they say lunch meat is a no go.
@juliaschade41, yeah I rarely eat lunch meat but tonight I'm just craving it! lol went to doctor other day was told my baby is healthy:)
@kaydenndkalanimuva, that's what mine says but I have to have a good ham sandwich
@sawyersmom that's why I really kept encouraging her to eat her ONE sandwich. Lol and I said the word SOMETIMES. Lol please read before you react. Thank you!💖
