Anyone know how to unclog milk ducts? My son has a bad milk protein allergy so I had to change my diet while they put him on prescription formula and I wasn't allowed to nurse for a few days. They wouldn't give me a pump while he was in the hospital so my ducts clogged from frequent production. I kept expressing the milk out in the hospital but I guess I wasn't doing it well enough allowing them to clog. I don't want my milk to dry out. My breasts hurt so bad. I tried binge pumping, only little is coming out. I've tried warm compresses, hot showers, I've tried frequent nursing but he won't latch because he isn't getting much. I've tried mother's milk tea, oatmeal, etc. Any other suggestions?

You can try dangle feeding. Leaning over top of him with your breast dangling to feed him. The gravity will help unclog the ducts.

What does it feel like? One of my breasts hurts so bad. Just on my left side. I'm thinking I might have a clogged milk duct to. It hurts so bad. Just the slightest touch I feel so sore. I hand expressed my milk in a bottle the other day and I'm wondering if that is what caused it to hurt like this.

@mommysarah7 they just feels sore and huge and kind of warm. Makes my eyes water and makes me feel sick.

You could have mastitis. I got it and brushed it off after I had tried everything until I ended up with a fever of 103 and the worst sweats and shaking from the fever. It started out as a feeling of being clogged and a general feeling like I'm about to get a cold...then my boob became warm to the touch, a bit red, and hurt like holy hell...I ended up going to the doc and she said I have a fever and put me on meds to clear up the infection.

@kag4291 I definitely don't have that if the symptoms are as described. I get cold sweats occasionally but that's just something postpartum I've had since after birth. It may Happen though if I can't unclog the clots. They aren't red or anything or warm to touch. They just feel really full and have a warm, sore feeling, not to touch but just in general, that makes my eyes water. I'll look out for it though

@cubanese he latches fine. He just doesn't want it because he isn't getting enough. Sometimes he gets some and sometimes he doesn't. I've tried dangle feeding too. It's difficult but I did and it didn't seem to make a difference. Maybe my milk is already starting to dry up

@cubanese He Gets Fussy and pulls off. I have always only pumped half an ounce to an ounce. So I don't think he's getting enough.
