Does anyone have Rh negative and dad has another. Can you inform me on the RhoGAM shot?

You are supposed to get 2 shots at diff times 1 before baby and 1 after.... i was told i was negative and was given the 1st shot...then i moved and switched doctor's and all of a sudden my blood type turned positive so i was never given the 2nd shot

Baby is fine though shot didnt hurt

I'm ab- / rh- . We don't know what dad is. But I haven't gotten the shot yet. We are supposed to get one with baby inside us and after labor. Because I guess our blood type/body fights against the baby thinking it's bacteria/virus. Kind of scary.

@teacher_vickie pretty sure blood type. My blood type is the rarest in the world.

Ok, thanks. I'm in the same boat. My boyfriend got a promotion at work and right now ifs challenging to take off and find out his blood type. However I was told more than likely he is Rh positive. I am kinda scared too. It's a super bummer. I know it will be fine but it's still a lot. I asked my Dr. If I could refuse the shots and looked at me like you don't want to do that. 😑

@teacher_vickie the shot helps keep your body from attacking the baby. Basically your body thinks the baby is a virus, it's foreign, doesn't like it or want it there. The shots prevent that from happening thats why you don't want to refuse it.
