You have to give them something they'd rather scratch... my cat chooses raw wood or cardboard scratchers over carpet... but I had another that was not interested in the cardboard scratchers, she preferred my couch! 🤦♀️... so I would lean a scrap piece of wood against a wall in my laundry room and they would go to town on it!
@dreamermom, my cat likes to scratch the carpet in front of my bedroom door when the doors closed so I would let her in so I was thinking about putting a rug in front of my door so she can scratch that instead.
They do have a spray at petsmart, that you spray towards the cartwhen they are doing any type of unwanted behavior. It's all natural pheromones that deter the cat and will eventually permanently stop the negative behavior.
No problem, I know how much fur babies habits can be a pain. I don't agree with declawing unless its absolutely necessary, it takes away all their defenses if they get stuck outdoors.

Do you have a scratching post? They need something to scratch on, its a natural behavior in cats.

You can even tape something like aluminum foil to the floor to get her to stop as well.
