I've heard a lot of different opinions about this but I'm curious to know. My 8 month old has a bad teething diaper rash. The pharmasist gave me a thicker bum cream. I was wondering if the diaper has only pee in it should I just be dabbing and re applying the cream or wiping the cream completely away. I feel like when I wioe it completely away it looks worse and sometimes it bleeds. But when the cream is left there it dries the rash up and looks better. Just wondering what you guys have done

My daughters 13 months and What I have done in the past is use a warm wash cloth instead of wipes, wipes will sting and can irritate the rash more if it's bad enough. If it's so bad it's bleeding I would make sure that every diaper you change you lean and reapply a generous amount. Creams with more zinc percentage will work the most efficient. :)

Well I went to the pharmacy and they gave me a bum cream that is supposedly stronger but my question is if she just pees sould I be wiping all the cream off completely? Or is it okay to leave it for one or two changes? If she poops I wipe everything obviously but I just don't see the point of putting her through pain if the cream is protecting the sores

@mommy1991, until it stops bleeding yes I would completely clean it every time, if not there's chance of causing infection.

I swear by baby powder and that's what has worked for 14 years, personally. I find the creams take so long and personally don't seem to do the trick. 🤷🏼♀️

And I also disagree that you should be wiping off completely- your adding more moisture and abrasiveness... just a personal opinion tho 😌

When you're changing and completely cleaning her bum leave her diaper off for as long as u can to air it out and if u have a blow dryer use it on a low setting and it will help dry the rash out.. (I swear it works lol) cornstarch is also great ☺

@darklotus7337 cornstarch? Really? I've never heard that before. I donleave her out of her diaper for like an hour at a time. Thing is I can't walk away and do what I gotta do cause she army crawls everywhere so I'll lose track of where she's peed haha

I have a 7 month old doing the army crawl now to get around and he's getting quick.. but yes cornstarch will help to dry it out I would put some of that on leave it for a few more mins then add rash cream sometimes I'd even slap on some Vaseline to create even more of a barrier... if u have the time though I definitely recommend the hair dryer a nurse gave me that tip and I wish I'd known about it during the bad rashes my daughter had it works wonders lol
