So I got prescribed amoxicillin- clavulante to take for my gallbladder and it says it passes through milk and I'm scared to take it but I do need to. Any other nursing mommy take this before and it was okay?

It can possibly cause diarrhea or thrush in babies

@beebaby, so what should I do?! I really don't wanna take that chance but I'm having surgery within a week and need to take it.

I think you should if the doctor says it is necessary. Just keep an eye on the symptoms for baby. If it appears take him to his pediatrician

@beebaby, ugh imma be a nervous wreck every time I take it but it is necessary.

Yes. I mean those are very minimal reactions. Easy treated. I wouldnt worry until you need to. He may never react to it

You could try calling your baby's pediatrician. They should be able to tell you when the antibiotic is most potent in your system and how long to try and wait for a feeding after you've taken it.

@emsquared, I did call and waiting for the on call to call back but for some reasons they never call me when I have a question about medication vs her illness
