I think it depends on your pain tolerance honestly. Some are going to say it hurts, some aren't. Are you in @theinkedmommy, tattoo group? Or maybe ask her? Lol

I have a decent size back tattoo and it didn't hurt at all. The only place that did bother me a little bit was on my shoulder blades but it wasn't too bad. Just a little tender.

I have a lower back tattoo, not low enough to be a tramp stamp and it didn't hurt at all... I'm a big baby & it was my first tattoo

Depends on your pain tolerance in the area, the size of the tattoo and the artist. Some artists have "heavy hands". My back tattoo didn't bother me too much. It's between my shoulders.
