So my doc office just basically tried to turn me away because of a lapse of insurance. My husband lost his job on the first and I immediately enrolled in my employers health care but I guess it's not in the system until tomorrow. They asked me to reschedule, refused to call to verify insurance over the phone and also didn't let me just pay out of pocket. Is this commonly this difficult? Or are the people working at my doc office just pricks?

it sounds to me like they are just being lazy. They didn't want to do their job. If it would be me I would be finding myself a new dr. where the staff actually do their job.

My drs takes people regardless of insurance and ability to pay and they do sliding fee scale based on income

Oh yeah that sucks. I would maybe talk to your dr about the staff.
