I personally don't give my son water very often , but my SIL has insisted since he was 4 months and gives him water and juice, which I definitely didn't approve of 😡
Between 6mos to a year, NEVER EVER EVER give water as a newborn they are fragile and can die from water poisoning since they are so young and all their nutrients is in formula/breastmilk. I found this out the hard way.
As soon as he got home from the hospital . Once or twice a day some drops of water. After like 10 or 15 days I gave him more, letting him suck by himself. mostly after his feeds and not before them , so the water doesnt make them full. Don't listen to the people who says they don't need water. It's BAD not to give water to a human. Nothing replaces water, not the breast milk nor the formula. Imagine you're thirsty and they give you warm milk. Do a research and see how needed is the water to baby's brain development besides I've seen with my eyes kids that are constipated for life because their mother didn't give them water until 6 months or a year. That's stupid . My baby is one year old and months ago he asks me for water when he sees me drinking or simply when he needs it .. You can see the thirst in his face desperately asking for water when he's running and playing, and if I let him he would drink half bottle each time but I take it away so he doesn't get full. Humans are 70% water so our cells need it. Follow your instincts mama.
At 6 months when I started to introduce the sippy cup no more than an oz a day
Thanks for all the advice mommas! I personally don't feel like she needs it at 7months but several people have asked if I have been! She doesn't seem interested in anything as much as she is milk! I have offered several types of fruits and veggies and just wondered if I was behind on the water thing!
