Well a lot of women have stated otherwise . When they put the IV in ,you have a way to control the medicine yes but I'm not sure how it wears off. But a lot of moms birth stories have said that once it came time to pushing they could feel all of it .
@momofdeuce i just took a class for labor and all that. and when you get the meds its continuous.. they dont just give a certain amount and thats all you get. it keeps going till after birth
It's really your own opinion. I didn't want it but had to get it. And learned after the birth of my son, if I wouldn't have gotten it when I did then my son or I wouldn't be here. So technically it saved the both of us. Again it's your opinion, if when your in labor you don't think you need it don't get it. But if the pain gets unbearable get it. I was in labor for 7 hours before I got it and then couldn't take the pain after that.
Loved it ! My opinion is whether you get it or not the results are the same (you have a baby) my only advice would be to get it later than sooner because often times moms get it early then when its time to push the medicine wears off & you're feeling all of it so it was no point in getting the epidural . & sometimes it can even stall progress in labor causing you to have to get a CSection.
I personally didn't want to have to get one... but after over 12 hours of labor and throwing up because it hurt so bad, I ended up getting one. There are some side effects that come with it, but if you decide to get one, that's your choice!!

I'm going to try to avoid it if possible, but some people need it.
