I need advice. My 1 year old is not interested in the potty at all; my husband and I have been trying to train him by going in the bathroom with him and using encouraging phrases like do you want to use the potty like a big boy etc but he barely ever wants to even sit on his potty.

Boys are harder to train. And also make sure he is ready and it isn't just you that thinks he should be potty trained. If you start too soon, the longer it will take.

Sounds like he isn't ready to potty training yet. With my boys they just did it on their own when they were ready. With my oldest we tried and tried and he had no interest. Backed off for a bit and bam he was doing it on his own.
