Does anyone's child have ADD or ADHD? I think my cousin has it but I'm unsure. What are some signs…

Not 100% sure on signs, but as for testing my dr recommend not until school aged (5/6ish) I had that question a few months ago out of curiosity because most of my husbands siblings on both mom and dads side have been diagnosed with ADHD

I was diagnosed before five I couldn't concentrate and I used to get up on tables in the middle of class and act out

@shelbyjo, okay! He's four currently but he just acts out and is always being a bully to my son. His mother (my aunt) has ADD but isn't taking any meds but she used to. So I think it has been passed on to him.

@mommysbabies, oh wow! He's only 4 and he's not in any school yet. He acts out by not listening to anyone, taking toys away from my boy and not sharing, and he'll push and kick and hit my son and his mom. He's definitely a handful.

My nephew is the same age and does the same thing they just made him see a shrink and he is fine it's due to his mom not disciplining him from the beginning but it may also be a boy thing

@mommysbabies, that sounds like my aunt as well 🙄 She doesn't discipline him enough. Could be just that with him!

Yup people don't get that if you don't have structure your kids will act out and then everyone just goes to that as a diagnosis

My son has it and he gets in trouble at school for talking out , not waiting his turn , hyper, sometimes can't control his anger , bad behavior and acts on impulse. He is on meds that help him focus and it helps his hyperness alittle

When he gets mad or when he gets to be to much I send him to a room alone so he can get himself together and then I tell him to come back when he is calm, which he really goes to breath

Some signs are Can't focus

Easy distracted extremely hyper talkative bouncing up and down can't sit still often teachers and some doctors blame it on behavior issues. I have 2 ADHD sons Ty Ty was diagnosed at 18 months and Dan Dan was diagnosed at 9 months

@smilingwithmyawesome4kids, all those things my cousin definitely has. It's just hard to tell if he really DOES have ADD/ADHD or if it's just their parenting needs to be more strict. 🙄 It definitely doesn't help at all that she always is giving him Sprite to drink. They just think it's "too early" to get him tested for it or to even ask about it. 😒 When your boys were younger were they mean to other children as well? Because my cousin is mean to almost every kid he plays with. It gets ridiculous. I didn't know if that could go hand-in-hand with the ADD...?
