They carry diseases. If you can just avoid going over there until they get it treated .

Just keep an eye on yourself every time you go out keep grass cut short avoid the woods i think true green has stuff they can come spray for ticks don't know how much it cost though

My grandma's dogs had ticks when I lived with her and they freak me out so much and I didn't want my cat getting them so I sprinkled garlic powder all in front of my bedroom door and from edge to edge of the door frame and never had a single tick appear in my room even though they were ALL over my house. It felt kinda icky walking on it on my carpet, but it was so worth it in the end. Everyone else got bit by them and me and my be didn't. Goodluck#
