Welcome to #momlifechats! We’re so excited to welcome Amanda Jelks and here’s an exerpt about her from the Chattanooga Times Free Press: http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/life/entertainment/story/2011/jul/05/she-never-said-i-cant/53289/
At the age of 14, Amanda Jelks (formerly Amanda Ray) became pregnant. By the time she gave birth at age 15, many of the people she loved and trusted the most turned their backs on her. Despite their expectations that Amanda would remain on welfare, never graduate high school and have 3 more children before age 18, Amanda persevered. While working as many hours as her fast-food employer would allow and raising a child, Amanda not only graduated high school at 17 with a 3 year old child - she did so as the valedictorian. Amanda then completed her undergraduate degree and, at age 24 with a 9 year old child, she obtained her law degree.
After working 5 years with a large firm handling complex business matters, Amanda took another leap of faith and started her own business, Jelks Law PLLC, in 2015. Flash forward to today, Amanda is 31 years old and her son is 16. She is now married with two more children, ages 3 and 5.
Amanda now dedicates much of her time to empowering women and girls to overcome obstacles which seem impossible to fulfill their wildest dreams.

I've been through so much in my 25 years of life and now I'm following my dream to serve my country for the sake of my son. I want to be that role model for my son that I never had growing up. I'm currently working out and studying to join the U.S Army. I've been wanting to join before I was 17. & look at me now I'm following my dreams through all the hardship I endured and I feel like I'm a better person because of it although I still fight my daily battles. I'm a winner and become stronger everyday both mentally and physically. #momlifechats
We all can follow our dreams it just takes a step at a time.

#momlifechats thatd a very inspiring story. I just recently.completed an online course, with having a 10, 6 & 1 year old. There were timrs I wanted to just give up and throw in the towel.. But I had to learn to encourage myself.. And remind myself what I was doing it for... My kids are my motivation and I want them to be able to learn and see thru my mistakes and accomplishments.
