I'm a little conflicted on best way to sanitize little bears new bottles, hard toys, binkis etc. Ovbs did do a Google search for most effective & safest.
#1 Running through the dishwasher - & honestly I don't know how I feel about that. I don't like the fact that they would be washed then in dishwasher detergent ((cascade packs))
#2 soaking in hot water with either distilled white vinger // or baking soda --- feel more comfortable with.
#3 boiling --which is great for the bottles & things that can sustain that amount of heat by don't think the toys would do so great with that method. ..
What do some of you mommies think, mind you this is for all the 1st washing after coming from the store so want to make sure they are actually sanitized.

If the toys are cloth, Lysol makes a laundry sanitizer that goes right in the wash. I scrubbed my bottles and binkies in hot soapy water. Then I rinsed them in hot water with a little less than 1/4 cup bleach. After that, I boiles them. Just because I am paranoid like that.

You can wash them in the dishwasher without soap. The heat alone sanitizes them

@cb958805 Lol thank you. I don't feel so comfortable using any bleach unless maybe I do the boiling method for some things.. but even then I may just go with baking soda.

No bleach at all please

@mrsmccormick it was a big five gallon bucket of water with less than a 1/4 c bleach. Then boile them. The pediatrician assured me it was safe.

@mrsmccormick yea boiling makes me ify because the packages don't state what is safe for that amount of heat.
I do this have a bottle sanitizer that goes right into the microwave. Just not 100% on how it works bc my sister gave it too me. Lol

@beebaby do u think the hard toys like teething toys & the soft ones that have that liquid inside are safe for dishwasher heat? & the binki nipples?

@mrsmccormick @beebaby bleach is definitely a no go for me from the geco, I'm over here worried about soaps, let alone bleach.

Tho it was on a Google reading about the bleach, still just not something I'm comfortable with.

I would probably use just simple soap and water for toys. They have sensitive soap for children in the baby isle with dreft

With my nipples. I would boil water to the hottest point, take it off the cap and drop my nipples in. I didn't actually boil them

@beebaby ahh gotcha. So remove from actual heat & drop the nipples in. Think binkis would be safe to do that way too both the nipples & plastic part around em... or just got with the simple soak, soap & water method for those?
Deleted·
I never did the plastic part because my bottles were all drop in. Depends on the bottles. I never used a bottle with a bottom, I just did the nipples only. The rest was soap and water.
