How did you teach your babies "no"? I keep hearing different things from yelling to lightly smacking hands.

What has worked for you?

@crustymilkflakes, sorry I read incorrectly, say "playing in the aisle is over" and place him in the shopping cart and buckle him in for the rest of the shopping trip. He will get upset but ignore it and use the same technique each time he does something you will not tolerate

Remove him from the situation and say "how sad, playing with shelves is over." But say it kindly. It teaches him without frightening him. Kids cannot think when they are scared. Read "Love and Logic" it's really great!!!!

My son is 9 months and is learning that a change in my tone of voice means I'm serious. When I use his full name he stops what he's doing, but we're working on "no touch" right now. I say it sternly while moving his hand. Seems to be beginning to work

This is a great question. My son will be one on the 25th and saying the word no doesnt do anything. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I want him to understand it. He's crawling around a lot more and getting into more things. He's starting to yank things off of the shelves when we go grocery shopping 😩
