One year ago today I gave birth to my best friend.

This time last year I was on my way to the hospital with terrible back pain, I was 42 weeks and 3 days. They measured me and said I was 1cm, but contractions were exactly 4 minutes apart, so instead of sending me home they kept me, since I would have been induced 4 days later anyways.

I received my epidural at 3pm I was at 4cm but in unbearable pain.

At 7pm I received another strong pain medication to help with the pain. The doctor came in, and broke my water for me,I was only at 8cm.

At 10pm, I started pushing. It seemed like I pushed for years, all I remember feeling was the need to poop really bad, the feeling like my back was going to explode from pressure, and hatred for the poor nurse who kept telling me I needed to push harder.

At 11:30pm, the doctor had returned and said that the baby was to large, .... All I could think of is how can that be? They said she's only about 7 pounds..... Any way ! He said she was spinning when I pushed and was wrapping the cord around her neck, she was to low for a c-section, I could either keep pushing and hope for the best or I could opt for help for forceps...

I chose forceps. Dr. Johnson cut me open from what I can only describe as A to Z, and pulled the baby out with forceps. After this everything was a blur, i lost a lot of blood and while the doctor and nursing struggled to keep me alive they also kept the baby alive.

I received 52 stitches, 3 blood transfusions, and was on constant monitoring. BUT! my princess was alive !

At 11:50pm on May 17th, 2016 .

9 pounds, 4 ounces

21 1/2 inches long

Bree Ann Sparks made her arrival.

She was perfect.

Her little face had a bruise from the instruments used to aid her arrival but It was worth it in the end.
