If scans were dangerous we wouldnt be offered them with my son i had scans at 10,12,20 and 36 weeks, with my daughter i had scans at 11,13,20,21, then scans every 3 weeks after that. Only one of these was private. I dont personally think there is any harm in them

Hmmm...Why can it harm the baby? People that do the private ones are just as qualified as the NHS people. I wouldnt have a private scan just because they cost quite a bit. I had a scan with the NHS...at 11 weeks...12 weeks, 20 weeks and 36 weeks (unexpected growth scan) I just monitored movements...if I had any concerns would've gone to the hospital xx

Personally I didn't have a private scan but I had 4 early scans at 3, 4, 6 and 8 weeks due to medical reasons and my baby is ok, as well as having the usual scans at 12, 16 and 20 weeks I'm also having growth scans every 2-4 weeks since 28 weeks as well as couple additional ones, in my opinion if it was to harm the baby the doctors wouldn't do them but that's just what I think and if people want to pay for private scans for their own reasons then it's their choice x

@kayteamay @winterbaby95 @gabilicious the article said it's not the scans on the NHS that's the issue it's the private ones. Sometimes they can put the setting too high and other things that's why they don't recommend it before 10 weeks. Firstly the daily mail is always full of shite. A lot of private scans are booked with private clinics. If other private scans were dangerous they would be monitored and shut down. I dont thinkbits anything to worry about. Its just fear mongering x

If you go to proper places the people that perform private scans are just as qualified as the ones that work for NHS, personally I wouldn't believe everything you read online people will come out with all sorts of things about everything nowadays, I know quite a few people that had private early scans and all their babies were completely fine and healthy x

It isn't definitively proven that they are bad for the baby. There is an association between the number of scans and adverse outcomes in a cohort of women attending private clinics in america, it is also known that older mothers and those who know that there is a birth defect will do more scans. I wouldn't worry! I've done scabs at 9, 10, 12, 20 and 30something weeks.

I had a private scan at 16 weeks and 28 and my baby turned out fine! If they were so bad then the private firms wouldn't be allowed to continue and they wouldn't be so popular I don't think, I think they're a great idea I had one to find out the gender and then a bonding one to see what he looked like it's amazing what they can do now x

@shannonn95 I agree they are amazing. I had a 4d one and my daughter looked so similar I was surprised lol
