2015 to now! Sometimes I see pictures of myself and I can't even remember that it's me.
I was 18 in the first picture. I had just moved out, and was drinking, popping, and snorting anything I could get my hands on. My hair was dead, eyes were sunken in, face was splotchy and riddled with acne. I couldn't function. Not to mention the tanning, coloring my hair, caking on the makeup...I was a wreck, but I couldn't see it. I do now.
The second pic is from last week. In July, it'll be 2 years sober. I don't smoke (except vaping for nicotine), I don't pop pills, I don't do coke, and I don't drink aside from a glass of wine on a special occasion. In July of 2015, I was sexually assaulted by someone I called a friend while I was absolutely inebriated at a party. While I know it wasn't my fault, I did put myself in a dangerous situation all for partying, and I knew I needed to change my ways.
I just wanted to share. 🙂 Its been hard, especially because being sober has forced me to deal with my mental issues (bipolar, anorexia, anxiety), whereas I used drugs before to mask them. But it has been so, so worth it all, especially knowing that just a few months later, I got pregnant with my baby girl. She was born the following July, so now, every year, I have TWO amazing things to celebrate that month. 💕
