I feared I would get a baby that would struggle to latch and that breast feeding would be so challenging I would want to just give up before I tired. Well on day one at sit here at 2:15am with my third attempt under my built, sad and frustrated because I was right. Let's hope once I start producing this gets easier. Kali has just been so sleepy, she needs nutrients.

My daughter wouldn't latch at firt either. What helped me was when a consultant told me to form my nipple like im feeding the baby a sandwich. After that she latched right away! Im going on 4m and now she latches on her own and her dad gives her bottles while im at work.

Lol thank you I picked a pediatrician that is a lactation specialist I forget what they are called hoping that with support I'll get through it but today I am so tired and just want her to be healthy in her first day of life

@kgagnon the nurses can help you with that!! Just ask. They also have lactation specialist at the hospital.. well, my hospital did. My daughter had trouble latching as well. Just remember, it is OKAY TO FEED YOUR BABY FORMULA. I beat myself up about that after I stopped producing milk...good luck!

My son took 3 days to latch he wasn't hungry . I saw a lactation nurse who came every feeding time to help and encouraged me that he was OK & would latch soon. I was determined to bf so that also helped. Just stay positive and encouraged & ask for help !
