You pay a deductible like you do with any other type of insurance(house, car, etc.) now with paying the deductible they replace your entire phone and the detectable varies depending on if you've presented a claim already and with new cases for how long you've had the phone. My advice would be to tell you just to find a place around you that fixes screens because it'll probably be cheaper and then you don't have to use a detectable
