Q2 @savvyeveryday We would love your advice on working at home with a baby and an older child. How do you balance it all? #momlifechats
A2: Honestly? School. Haha. When Savannah turned 3 I started to spend a bit of time on my website while she would play independently (great imagination) or with family members. When she was 4 and in pre-K for a few hours a day I’d use that time to dedicate to my work, and then another hour after I picked her up and about 5 hours after she went to sleep at night. She started full-day kinder this year and it was such a blessing for getting work done — especially since I had to handle selling our old home, buying a new one, and issues related to a car hitting me on the freeway. Now that River is here I use his awake and happy time in the morning to shower, play with him a bit and also quickly sort down emails on my phone and flag important ones to read through later. Once Savannah is at school, River usually gets tired and so once I can get him down for a nap I catch up on either social on my phone or emails and work on my computer (depending on how he falls asleep and how much I’m able to move). I have a photographer come over and take pics of me and River while S is in school, too She’s not a fan of taking pictures anymore so it’s easier to keep the house clean and get these done while she’s out of the house since I only have the photog for an hour each visit. River sleeps heaviest at night, though, so my best computer work hours are when both kids go to sleep at night. #momlifechats
