After 18 years of being a Mom, I have to say this is SO true! I didn't always know this and focused heavily on gifts for bdays and Christmas every year, but over the past few years I have come to believe nothing is more valuable than time together - especially vacation time. The memories are what we carry forward forever, not toys and other meaningless things. I hope to spend more on vacations and trips going forward than on gifts.

@js_kidsmom, oh yes birthdays have always been extra special. I have always let my kids skip school on their birthday and we went off and had a mother daughter/son day - depending on which one it was. I still do it with my daughter every year because my oldest boy is to old for that now lol. My girl is my mini-me. We have so much fun together on our mother/daughter trips 😊

I'm 24 and my siblings are 22 and 21 and we always talk about Vacations with the family and going to Myrtle Beach and Florida (before we lived here ) and California and stopping at south of the border finally and realizing it was terrible but laughing about it! All the memories made! I can honestly say I remember maybe 3 Christmas gifts over time (other then my son who decided to come a hour after Christmas lol)
