Noticed a lump on top of my right breast. I guess that's the best word for it. I assume clogged milk duct. I have no symptoms of mastitis. Any suggestions what to do so it doesn't turn into an infection ?if I'm even correct on what it is. Or anybody ever have this?

I found several lumps when my baby was a few weeks old. I was ebf and for 1-2 days before I found the lumps I did show flu like symptoms. But it went away as quick as it came. Then the lumps. I massaged them when I breastfed and even though nipples hurt I'd feed her anyway. I would rub the lumps every time I thought about it. I had two large ones under my pits and a few on the top of each breast.

@morganmommy79, and that helped? I've been massaging them when he nurses I was hoping that would do it without needing medicine. I get hot flashes I didn't even think that could be why

Seriously massaging them especially the really hard parts is important even if it hurts... And sounds weird but submerging the breast in warm/hot water while it's hanging down (gravity helps) while massaging I always kneeled on all fours in the bathtub

@sparklymama, thank you. That's a good idea. Since I noticed it I've been massaging it. I have held warm wash clothes. Haven't thought of water. I have to try that then.

I alternate hot compresses and massaging while either feeding baby or pumping to get rid of plugged ducts, that usually helps pretty quickly! I also use essential oils and put a blend of lavender and tangerine oils on the affected area but if you don't have those the hot compress and massage is just as good 😊

@nicoler, I actually do have those oils I will try. Thank you all. He recently stopped using a shield and since then I think it maybe had an effect on things
