Any mommies have advice for bad acid reflux in their baby?
@jacqui2012.jl, gave him some gas drops in water a few minutes ago and he seems to be sleeping a lot better so high hopes 🙏🏼
@courtt id ask to see the GI specialist. They at least know more and can give more insight if nothing else. Reflux is a big go-to for drs. Ive noticed. They dont know what to call it so they call it reflux.
My daughter threw up EVERY thing she drank...this formula made it to where she only threw up half the time... Same with my son.... Its already partially broken down so its less harsh on their stomach and they keep it down better.
His formula has been switched so many times since he's been born it makes me feel horrible @jacqui2012.jl,
Id also ask to see a Gastroenterologist (GI) specialist and ask for a swallow study if one hasnt been done already.
@courtt gas drops and gripe water help the other end more i think. Is he formula or breastfed? If hes formula fed he may just not be compatible with the formula and need a change. But im one to try everything and see what works.
@adamsgurl, they have switched his formula so many times already since he's been born im honestly scared to keep trying more different ones :(
Thank you all for the advice. My baby boy doesn't spit anything up but from being in the hospital for 2 days they ruled his choking as bad acid reflux. So I have been doing all the things you guys have recommended and he still gets the burning in his throat in his sleep and cries I'm so lifeless I'm so tired lol but what do you all think of gas drops vs gripe water? Either help? @jacqui2012.jl, @nicoler,
Enfamil neutramagen..... Saved my kids from me giving them away... Lol. Seriously though... Its well worth the cost... Wic will even pay for it if you can get a doctor to writs a script for it... That is if you can get wic...
One other thing that has worked for us is smaller but more frequent feedings. My daughter actually started doing it on her own but it makes sense to me, if she doesn't eat a big meal her tummy isn't as full so she doesn't spit up as much. So she eats way more often than other babies her age because she eats less but it works for us. I'm not really sure at what age that becomes appropriate though, 10 days might be a little young to start that :/
I have no idea when an appropriate age is since my daughter was put on it at a month and a half old. However, she was also premature soooo i don't think it would go by weight or stomach development. Id definitely ask when he would be able to take it. It was the only thing that truely helped her. Otherwise just ride the wave.
I'm doing all of these things now, children's hospital had mentioned Zantac but he's only 10 days old and said that his reflux would go away eventually that theirs no actual treatment to make it disappear
My daughter has it, the main thing her pediatrician told us to to keep her upright for 30 minutes after she eats and have her sleep on an incline. We used a rock and play to achieve that incline but you can also use blankets or towels under the crib mattress. I also found that it helped to take y time burping her, if I tried too hard to get a burp out after a feeding it all came back up.
Feed in a more upright position. Burp frequently during a feed. And lay them at a slant (wedge under mattress). If all of this doesnt help talk to your pediatrician about putting him on a reflux medication along with these things. My daughter has been on Zantac for a year now and all of these things helped.
@courtt I hope it helps!
