My son has had fever since yesterday too. I've been giving Motrin and baths to cool him down when I notice his temperature rising. He's good right now hoping it stays that way. I hope your baby feels better soon. Keep him hydrated.

@mrsmccormick, thank u well it all just happen like one hr ago I have him n a diaper we woke up at 10:30 and I noticed he was super warm thought maybe just bc the snuggled up blankets and next to mama he did a giant poop on potty then I sat him down as normal he cried instantly so I picked him up and noticed he was still very hot. I have him n only diaper but his feet covered they are like ice. I called his dr I gave Tylenol bc I really think it's his teeth but while on potty he sneezed and for the 1st time ever little bit of clear snot came out. Dr said keep him hydrated so we came to rocking chair after med and nursed and he ate well and back asleep. I'm going to call at 4 after I check him which is in 4 hrs and go in tomorrow morn if things don't get better this afternoon. The cold Breastmilk sounds good but he never had a bottle and in his cup well he waste more than he drinks I usually sit him n his chair which right now I think he's not up to it. Maybe after he wakes if the Tylenol brings it down I will try his cup

@ethansmommy12292015, I'm praying for ur baby. Hope he feels better too. I have never given Motrin I gave Tylenol I really think it's his teeth and that can help with pain relief

Ok @zayas_mama, so I may sound silly but why use Mortrin Tylenol alternations help. I have never used Mortrin how does it work I don't have any but can have my husband go get some

Motrin is metabolized by the kidneys and Tylenol is metabolized by the liver. That's why they can be cycled every 2 hours. Personally, I have only cycled them once when my son had a horrible, horrible cough and was screaming in pain bc of his chest. I reserve cycling meds for extreme situations. Idk what Luke's temp is at.

@txyogagirl , tylenol has acetaminophen and mortin has ibuprofen ,but ask his pediatrician 1st, I've done it before bcuz my kids pediatrician recommend it

I miss my grandma so bad she would know what to do😢 so here details woke up at 10:30 big poop a sneeze with little snot checked fever at 11am 101.2 gave almost 3 of Tylenol left him in only diaper then called dr she said he could have 3.75 bc his weight and keep hydrated so I nursed him we been in rocking chair since and he sleeping on me. Dr said to check every 4 hr my mom told me every 30 min to try and see if it's progressing or breaking. I told dr I would watch him they said if I wanna call back today at 4 to see if he has progressed or got any better and I wanna go in tomorrow depending on how today goes they said watch for not sleeping or eating and he is doing both

@txyogagirl, that's what we're here for to support each other ,and I understand being a 1st time mommy can be scary but,don't worry you're doing great ,I also understand about missing someone I lost my mom in 2013 and still miss her everyday pm if you need anything or just to talk 😊

@zayas_mama, thanks u y'all are all so sweet well Luke just woke up so he slept about 1 hr I just took his temp and it's 100 can it go down that quick that much or maybe it's all the prayers and boobie milk lol

Ok ladies have a question if anyone is up I gave Tylenol it brought the fever down finally he was at 98.1 at 5:30pm he had 3 doses today but he took a nap finally at 7 and omg since waking up he is so fussy poor baby so I think I'm going to try the Motrin but after looking at label I'm not sure on dosage Luke is almost 8m but 21lb I'm not sure I don't wanna give to little or to much. @northwoodsmomma, @mrsmccormick, @ethansmommy12292015, ok ladies thank u all so much were out of bath he wasn't fussy In the water but he never is so I decided to give right in the middle of the 2 doses on the label 1.25 was to 17lb or 11months and 1.87 was to 23lb and 23lb crazy bc he is only 7m I gave less than 1.8 and a tad more than 1.2 I don't plan to give any during the night bc hopefully my boobs will sooth him. I only take his temp rectal which we usually don't change diaper in night bc he gets so upset if I do. Another question for you all what age did u start the ear thermometer I have one but my dr told me it wasn't accurate for a certain amount of time I'm wondering if it would b accurate now at his age. Easier for checking more often.

His temp was 98.6 forgot to mention that but I know he feels yucky poor baby I can tell in his eyes and his little nose

We personally don't use a thermometer in our house. I feel the small of his back to get a read on temp. We have gone to the ER once bc I could feel his temp was high AND his behavior was very lethargic. Usually I just give fluids (offer the breast more often), have him sleep with me instead of in his room to monitor him, and strip him down to nothing but a diaper. I've always told myself if the fever doesn't break in 24 hrs, we go to the ER. This has only happened once. I know that method isn't for everyone. If you choose thermometers, I would probably stop taking a rectal around 18-24 months. That's when I personally start considering my daycare kiddos to be toddlers instead of babies.

@northwoodsmomma, ok great thanks for all the tips yea I haven't used a thermometer but two times in his life bc he is a pretty good baby. I will call the dr back n the morn for more help. Thanks again
