They give you pitocin, which starts contractions. 50% of inductions end in c-section, so unless it's medically necessary, or you've hit 42 weeks, its smart to decline. Many doctors offer it knowing that they will make 3x as much money if they have to preform surgery. Pitocin makes the uterus contact, but many times the baby doesn't descend downward. Or, dilation is nonexistent.
I went in at 6 am, got hooked up to my IV & monitor. slept, got pitocin, slept even more, my water got broken, basically waited around until I felt like pushing.
Had inductions with both my kids :) went in at 6 am with both. They both came at night.
@mommyteam28, I personally haven't had induction but took childbirthing classes and learned about it listen to @jennatess, she's right. Do u think meds should make baby come out? No let God work the way he is suppose to. I say walk walk walk it's a natural way to get baby going on his own
When i got induced i got admitted in the hospital at 6 Am, started pitocin at 7 Am, around 11:45 i asked for the epidural, a while later i got my water broken. then i fell asleep for a bit. Woke up somewhere around 2, at 2:25 my dr checked to see if i was dilated & i was already 10 cm. I started pushing, & at 2:42 Pm my baby was born!! It was super easy, i didnt feel any pain at all. I didnt even sweat. I only felt a bit of pressure when my babie's head was coming out

Well they set a date for me to come to the hospital, hooked me up to iv and monitor, then gave me medicine to start contractions

Honestly it depends some Drs insert things to soften the cervix some use iv medicine it really depends on why you're being induced
