You know, as parents (especially first time parents), I think we're all a bit too hard on ourselves sometimes. Maybe we lose our patience, or we handle something badly, or we don't try as hard on something as we feel like we could have, and we feel guilty. We beat ourselves up.

We are not perfect. We are not superheroes. We all have bad days, even those "perfect" moms flaunting all over FB with a perfectly clean house, intricate meals every night, who act like their children never cry or throw tantrums or poop everywhere.

Whether a pregnancy is planned or not, no matter how many books and articles and blog entries you read, NOTHING can completely prepare you for parenthood. Every baby is different with different needs, preferences, etc. Sure, if you have other kids, you know the ropes and know a bit of what to expect, but your new baby is going to be at least somewhat different from your other children.

We all make mistakes. We all lose our patience. We all do things that we look back and wish we wouldn't have done. It's part of being human. We are all just trying our best to raise our children into good, loving people. And it's not necessarily easy.

As long as your baby is a priority, as long as you show them love and affection, take care of their needs, and make sure they are healthy, you are a GOOD mom. You are doing the best you can, just like the rest of us. So cut yourself some slack. If you make a mistake (and you will, many many), just take note of it, and do better the next time. This is a learning experience for ALL of us. 💖
