I have never heard of someone starting to potty train at 6 months old.. shouldn't the idea be to potty train at the earliest, when your baby can walk and sit him or herself on the potty? Lol 6 months old is crazy... they generally say not to force potty training, that it will happen on it's own when the child is ready. I can see someone starting at the earliest to try to schedule sit downs on the potty and try to cut back on diapers by the time the baby can walk and sit on his/her own, usually by anywhere from one year old and +. @missjess

I had never heard of it at that little either until I've seen a few girls on here saying they are. But I think the same as you. I figured at least when he's walking. @simplyshantell,

At that age youd have to carry and support your baby over the toilet.. I don't see the point in that. Lol... the point in potty training is to reach the conclusion to eliminate diapers completely. A 6 month old isn't old enough to walk his/her self to a potty let alone get up or have enough ability to retain their bladder for sufficient amounts of time, not to mention the comprehension of why to use the potty in the first place or an understanding of rewards which makes it easier 😂 it's just silly to me... I don't mean to sound harsh to whoever has that system, to each their own. I just think it's silly personally. Some kids only want to use the potty when diapers get uncomfortable. My son stopped using them all together when he was 22 months because he realized how uncomfortable they were... No trainiing necessary at all, and no potty necesarry.. he's been using the toilet ever since on his own and has never had a single accident. I never made him use the potty, he did so on his own. It'll happen when he's ready eventually. @missjess

I completely agree with you! I hope my son is that easy one day lol. @simplyshantell,

I don't believe you can potty train at 6 months lol and those moms who "have their kids potty trained so young" are lying because they still have to take their kid to potty every 30 minutes... I'll start potty training probably around 15+ months because my daughter can communicate but can't fully walk yet. Also she still pees a lot in the night so she might still wear night time diapers lol

Patience is the name of the parenting game 😴... if it's not one thing it's the other.. Just know that although it doesn't seem like it now, you'll miss these days and they will fade away quickly. You might be crazy enough to want to go through it all over again like me 🤔😂. I can't remember the last diaper I changed although i know how tired I was of changing them, but it all becomes a distant faded memory. Time moves so fast. Before you know it he'll be sleeping through the night and talking your head off 🤤 lol @missjess
Jess·
He already talks my ear off... But certainly doesn't sleep through the night! He'll be 8 months this week and it's just like where the heck has the time gone?! 😔@simplyshantell,
🌹Shantell🌹·
Just wait till he says "mom, what is this, what is that?!" To absolutely everything his eyes can see.. he'll say mom this or mom that or mom let's do this or let's do that or I want this or I want that, and it never ends... Lol. I wouldn't trade it for anything but patience is a requirement 😓... mine was only a good sleeper because we co slept. I never attempted to make him sleep on his own because i knew if I did I wouldn't get over an hour of sleep at a time. Thankfully co sleeping he was the best sleeper... he'd sleep 12 hours at a time. You have true strength trying to make it so that he sleeps on his own @missjess
Jess·
I feel like my patience runs thin sometimes 😔 especially with him not sleeping at night. It's hard to remind yourself they are just a baby when you are half asleep and exhausted fighting a infant to sleep. I feel bad getting frustrated. I do co sleeping but he'll only sleep on me. So that makes it even more frustrating lol. I can see my son now asking every question there is about every little thing lol especially since now he just talks and talks away. I'm like i wish I knew what he was really saying. He's such a goofy little guy, he makes me laugh so much. :) @simplyshantell,

I know what you mean.. it's super tough and especially when you're so exhausted, such a simple thing such as sleep becomes so difficult.. I find it cute how he wants to sleep ON you only.. Lol. I wish my son would do That believe it or not! He's like.. get away mom! Turn the light off and go to sleep! Lol... so much more distant now :( but I understand what it's like in the infant toddler stage, it gets so tiring when you're living it. Have you tried having him maybe sleep next to you, on your arm maybe while you're both turned to the side? It sounds like he really cant sleep unless hes bonding with you. He might just literally not be ready to transition to be on his own just yet. You'd be surprised how much a month or two can change them drastically as they get older @missjess if all else fails id try different co sleeping positions so at least he's not having to be on top of you but next to you at most until it can become easier for him to sleep on his own, usually when they stop frequently napping and need more sleep throughout one big stretch.
Jess·
He'll sleep 2 hours in his crib. He use to sleep 4 hours atleast, idk what happened. I try him next to me but he literally has to be like up my butt. I move him so he's not right next me and he rolls back then gets mad I keep moving him. He use to sleep nice next to me too and now he won't. Just on me which kills my back 😞 it is very tough. I'm just like you are tired so sleep don't fight it cause you aren't right with me lol. Plus he is in my room right now so it's not like I'm far I'm 2 steps away.@simplyshantell,
🌹Shantell🌹·
You sound like my husband!! Lmao.. when the baby would sleep with us, he'd always inch torwards my husband to try to snuggle and id wake up in the middle of the night to him pushing the baby away saying "get off me kid!!!" lolol...id have to take him and turn around with him so he'd be on my side instead 😂 good times. Haha. He actually stopped napping at around almost 2 as well, around the same time he opted to sleep on his own because he realized he had a lot more space that way. They change as they grow :/ he was like that too but eventually he stopped.it didn't bother me that he wanted to be so close as long as i could sleep the full night, but then again it did bother the husband. He just wanted his space back lol..i know it's frustrating, but hang in there! He'll eventually sleep on his own without hassle! @missjess
Jess·
Lol! I can't wait till he does. I don't even get a full night when he's with me. He moves around so much me holding him. It's beyond tiring. I miss sleep and my own space😫@simplyshantell,
