My daughter is turning 1 in june and I got some estimated prices for a cake I'd like to have made and the prices of course are outrageous. What did you mom's do for a cake for the first birthday celebration? I'm tempted to just do a simple cake and smash cake so I can spend more on her decorations and her presents. 😩😦

Cakes aren't cheap. Especially if you're doing a tiered cake or fondant. I decorate cakes for a living. With that being said, I agree they are expensive but time consuming too. I'm making my sons but if I was to order it I'd do the same thing. I'm just having cupcakes and a smash cake for him. Easy and alot cheaper than a huge fancy cake. What was the cake you were wanting?
