My husband cut his tendon in his thumb 5 weeks ago.

1. He has two weeks left in his cast then 6 weeks of physical therapy.

2. When he injured himself ER doctor said they don't have anyone in the hospital that deals with tendon cuts to the hand and referred him to a hand surgeon.

3. ER doctor told my husband at the time of his injury that whatever he does not to move his thumb or he could lose it.

4. My husband has been on light duty not allowed to use his left hand and has a workers compensation claim open.

5. Hand surgeon told us my husband will at best get 50% function back if he's lucky but most likely not because he's never seen anyone get more than 50% function in his entire career.

Ok so now this guy at my husband work cut his tendon in his thumb yesterday.

1. Went to the ER said he had a severe cut to his tendon. (Just like my husband)

2. This guys said they put a splint on him (just like they did to my husband) and said he can go back to work like nothing happened on Friday.

3. He hasn't brought in any paperwork proving this is what the doctor said.

How can this guy supposedly cut his tendon the same amount my husband did but he can return to work like nothing happened. Uhmm tendons don't grow back once you injury it your screwed pretty much. So this guys story doesn't make sense or he's lying and is making my husband seem like an ass at work. My husband's supervisor is telling him he needs to hurry up and heal already that this other guy has the same injury and is returning to work within the week of his injury when my husband won't be cleared for another 8 weeks from his surgeon. I don't understand this guy's story who supposedly cut his tendon.

Also workers compensation case worker said that tendon cuts at work she's never heard of the employee getting full function back. Every case she's seen the employer ends up having to pay the employee for loss of function. Depending on how much function is lost depends on how much the employee gets paid. Oregon (state my husband works in) pays the most for this type of injury.
