Husband is an alcoholic, i know this sounds so. Cliche but i thought us having a baby would change that. Dont get me wrong. I have been off Birth control since january we tried all that month and part of february but then i had my period, so i gave up and said since he isnt getting his act together i dont wanna bring a child into the mix lo and behold i was pregnant that feb 😩😩🙄 but didnt find out until the end of march He is a WONDERFUL man when he is sober ... i do not know what to do im heartbroken cause i dont wanna have to stay at my dads for a little . I suggestes rehab and he said no because he doesnt wanna be gone for thirty days WELL THATS WHY THEY HAVE OUTPATIENT REHAB and it isnt even that long obly from 6p-9:30p and i promised i would go to every session w him... whatever im bummed and fed up. Whats it gonna take for him to get his act together? If you cant do it for me do it for your child right?😞😞💔💔💔

Honestly you cant change him unless he wants to change. My husband is an alcoholic and has been since i met him and our baby is 9 months old and im 5 weeks pregnant and he is finally ready for rehab. But no matter how much i tried i couldn't change him. I just dont buy him any alcohol so im not an enabler and i support him on the days he doesnt drink(since hes trying to quit).

@autumnsmomma125, i dont know how you did it. I dont know what kind of drunk yours is but mine treats me so ugly call me out my name and curses me out for not buying him alcohol. I live for mornings and sundays when he cant drink. (His poision is real cheap vodka, i hate the way it smells , i hate how DUMB he looks , i hate seeing him stumbling everywhere. I hate not going out on dates on friday nights cause he is already piss ass drunk right after work and is passed out until midnight smh

I just knew i loved him... Im not sayin you dont. He has been a mean drunk and done unforgivable things.. But i just took it. Maybe i shouldnt have but he has gotten better somewhat. He still has his shit face days that i get frustrated but i do understand you.mine drinks fireball he drinks like a pint or 2 a evening.. And its awful sometimes. But i stuck it out and he is finally realizing what its doing to him and myself and our child.

Sadly there is nothing you can do... he has to make that decision for himself, and it typically requires something bad happening... once they hit rock bottom, they finally see it's a problem... and then they have to find the inner strength to fight for sobriety! I grew up in a home with an alcoholic father... I lived in constant fear and anxiety, because he was a wonderful man when he was sober, but you never knew what might set him off and he'd go from happy go lucky to something straight out of a nightmare literally in minutes... my mother was totally codependent... and us kids suffered because she could not find the courage to leave... once he finally quit drinking, and started into a program, she refused to go see a counselor because 'it was his problem, not hers!' I started into a group sessions myself, but she refused to allow my sisters to go, and they have struggled a lot because of that decision... Within a couple years my parent divorced, he had finally become the husband she always wanted... but being codependent she lost her identity because she no longer had someone to clean up after and make excuses for... she left him for someone just as controlling, and had a string of horrible relationships before finally realizing that maybe she did have some issues of her own. I strongly suggest even if he won't go seek help for himself, that you go and seek help for yourself... tackle your own demons... maybe it will inspire him to do the same! There is a reason you fell for an addict, and you need to figure that out about yourself, then maybe you can help your children break the cycle!
