All Mommas Please Help Mommy To Be! I need a better perspective of these signs.

Can you describe to me how you knew your water broke? I need a vivid picture so I can understand better and know what's going on. I know if you feel a gush of water then that's how you know...but i don't really know much about these signs. I understand that each of us is different and experiences things differently in ways but I'm 18 and never done this before. I am having very sharp pains - more painful than any period cramp I've ever had. I keep going to the bathroom and I look down at my pad and it's full but not with discharge. It's like a clear but mainly pink color to it. I've mentioned that to my OB today at the appointment but she checked me saying I haven't ruptured yet (I don't really know what that means). Also my mucus plug has fallen out during the appointment as well.
