Does anyone have a child on ADHD meds? My sons doctor put him on Concerta 27mg and we're starting…

I have personal experience on it I was five when I first started it and chose to stop my freshman year of high school because they made me sad but in the beginning they absolutely helped I think for me I was just on them to long

I started my son on them last year. He was 7. No bad side effect for him but he did loose his appetite so make sure he eats especially before he takes the medicine. Besides that it has been the best choice for him! I am so proud of him, he no longer gets in trouble for not paying attention or being distracted or not following instructions. The first week I noticed the difference I saw that he no longer needed me to repeat the same homework with him, he no longer needs his special classes and is able to finish his work on time in school. I can't believe I was so against it. Also make sure he isn't a zombie on them it shouldnt change who he is. Best of luck!

@mommysbabies, but until your freshman year you were fine? I know you were young, but do you remember how long it took before it started to work? I read reviews online it said there might be some aggressive behavior the first few days. He was on Vyvanse which worked amazing but unfortunately my insurance wouldn't cover it. Then we went to a generic version of Adderall for three weeks but he was getting super emotional so we switched to Concerta.

Yeah I was fine I was angry before the meds but I was going through a lot my dad was in and out of my life and I think I was just doing it for attention but before the meds I was getting kicked out of class every day for "dancing" on tables that stopped after a few days on meds from what I was told

He had a yogurt and a protein bar for breakfast he usually doesn't eat that much for breakfast, but I made him eat lol

I was on them and personally hated them because it was like taking speed to me. I was a lot older tho so probably on a different kind of med and dosage. I do have a family member who's son is on them tho and she said he is doing really good on them.
