Hi! I'm new too. 😊 My husband and I adopted our darling girl last July. We used Everlasting Adoptions. They have a website if you google for it. The process was long and involved. We had a few hitches along the way and were almost discouraged enough to give up. Our social worker convinced us to stick with it and sure enough, we got our girl! ❤️ We had to have a home study, background checks, fingerprinting, fire inspection, and complete a course related to issues in adoption. All of these had to be renewed or repeated, except for the course, at least once over the duration of our search. Everything but the fire inspection cost quite a bit, in addition to the initial cost to Everlasting. After we were matched, we had to hire an attorney in our birth mother's area to handle the legal stuff. We were there for the delivery and were able to take Bliss home from the hospital two days later. We were required to remain in-state for two additional weeks; every state is different though and has different requirements. After we brought her home, we had monthly visits from our home study provider and we had to submit a report, letter, and photos as well. After six months, our attorney finalized our adoption and she was legally ours. Best feeling in the world! I will be honest and say it was all very, very expensive. However, we were able to offset some of the costs with the tax credits that are available specifically for adoption. We also had a Go Fund Me, which I didn't love doing (prideful lol) BUT we had had one failed adoption that had drained most of our money and still had so much to pay for to complete the adoption of our daughter. My good friend just adopted two little girls through our state's foster care system, which was less costly but had even more requirements regarding social worker visits, classes, etc.

I just had so many questions when we started the process and really couldn't find anyone where could give me the step by step details, so I've tried to spell it out pretty clearly.
